I thought it would be fun to write a blog post with Questions and Answers so you as the readers could learn more about me and feel better connected. I found some questions online that I will be answering.
I would love it if you commented below with any questions you want to ask me! I will be happy to answer them 🙂 oh and yes that photo is actually me when I was little!
Here goes nothing…
1. What do you do when you’re not working?
A. When I am not working, I am honestly probably watching television because it’s nice to just be a vegetable after work. I work 9-6 and usually Monday and Wednesday I have church activities. Thursday and Saturday are usually my homework days. Occasionally I will go out with some friends.
2. Did you choose your profession or did it choose you?
A. I chose my profession. Although there are things that helped me get here. I’m an assistant teacher working in a school. I come from a large family of 7 children with already 22 nieces and nephews (and counting). So you could say I’m used to being around children. I also had a wonderful experience helping children with disabilities when I was a teenager that also pushed me to work with children.
3. What would you do if you won the lottery?
A. If I won the lottery… oh man. I guess it would depend on how much the lottery was haha. For sure I would use some of it to go travel. I want to go to Greece and especially Ireland!!! I’ve never been to Europe either. Australia would be fun to see. I also would want to visit some of my friends in Central America like El Salvador and Guatemala. The other part I would probably buy a house somewhere. Once I found a place I liked I would just buy it. And the rest of the money I would save. But first and foremost, TRAVEL!
4. What is your favorite way to relax?
A. Besides sleep and watching television? I like reading. I don’t do it as much, but I do enjoy it. I also enjoy listening to music to just relax. I will sometimes have music playing to sleep as well.
5. What is your favorite book to read? or What is your favorite song or favorite movie?
A. Right now I am obsessed with the music from the movie The Greatest Showman. I listen to it LITERALLY every day. Usually on my drive to and from work.
Some of my favorite animated movies are Megamind, The Lorax, and most recently Coco which was actually really good).
As far as my favorite old musicals I love The Court Jester, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Calamity Jane and Singing in the Rain.
For romance movies I love The Proposal, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Two Weeks Notice and While You Were Sleeping.
6. What makes you laugh the most?
A. What doesn’t make me laugh? If I am tired or it’s late I will laugh at anything and won’t stop.
7. What is your favorite holiday?
A. I loved Christmas as a child. It was when we got together with my siblings and my older brothers would come wake us up. We would line up youngest to oldest. I remember one year my sister and I were sharing the top bunk and somehow my older brother climbed up and got in the middle without us knowing and then started yelling and moving around to wake us up.
Now that I am older… I would probably say Thanksgiving. For the same reasons. We usually get together with at least someone in the family and I love being with my family.
8. What was the last book you read/movie you saw?
A. The last book I finished (because I’m reading one now) was called Cheers to Eternity. An amazing book by Al Carraway and her husband.
9. What are your favorite TV shows?
A. I like a variety of different shows.
From mysteries like Monk, Psych, Blue Bloods, House, and Criminal Minds.
To shows like The Middle, The Big Bang Theory, Friends, and Full House.
I could keep going haha. I’m actually rewatching all the friends episodes on Netflix… so I have been pretty busy haha.
10. What is one thing you’re glad you tried but would never do again?
A. Horseback riding. I can finally say I tried but I will NEVER do it again. I don’t care if I marry a cowboy – I will never do it again. I sat on the horse for about 10 seconds before it freaked and I freaked and wanted off. Never again. But glad I tried. That was a HUGE thing for me.
11. When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?
A. With girls it’s usually about boy problems. Which is ironic because I have no luck with boys and no nothing about dating.
With boys it’s usually about things going on in life or they want my help with something tangible like making something. I don’t know, lately it has been me going to others so I actually haven’t had to help anyone with anything.
12. Who’s your go to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
A. Well like I said it has been the music from The Greatest Showman. But the style of music I usually go to are songs by artists like Eric Hutchinson, Rachel Platten, Ed Sheeran, Spanish music or 105.1 for country.
13. What’s something you like to do the old-fashioned way?
A. I like dating the old fashioned way Hahahaha. No but honest I like communicating with others through letters. I feel letters are SO personal. They mean a lot. It takes time and effort. It requires deep thinking. I love writing letters to people. That has always been something I have loved.
14. What is something you have only recently formed an opinion about?
A. I recently realized how great it is to have a job that has benefits such as having dental and medical insurance.
15. What are you interested in that most people haven’t heard of?
A. I really love this YouTube channel called Good Mythical Morning. It has a ton of followers, but not many people I actually know have heard of them.
16. What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
A. Love someone.
17. What is something that people are obsessed with but you just don’t get the point of?
A. Guys are so obsessed with that hairstyle where the sides are shaved and the middle is long. I don’t usually like that and I don’t understand the point of that hairstyle.
One thing that did change my mind was those fidget spinners. I used to think they were stupid, but recently I got a pop socket on my phone case and I play with that nonstop so I think that has become my fidget spinner.
18. Where is the most interesting place you’ve been?
A. The most interesting place I have been would be Nicaragua. It was such an amazing experience that changed my life forever. It’s one thing to see on television the poor conditions that other countries live in, but it is a whole other story when you get to experience it with your own eyes. I was amazed by how these people lived…yet were so happy. I was amazed at the scenery there as well. The volcanoes, beaches, etc. A very wonderful place!
19. What is the luckiest thing that has happened to you?
A. I am not very lucky. The luckiest thing for me would probably be that I have gotten to travel to some different places. I know that there are some people who don’t travel…not even to different states. So I have been fortunate to visit other places.
20. What is your biggest pet peeve with modern technology?
A. I hate advertisements that pop up. Like seriously, stop.
21. What object have you been searching for with no luck?
A. I have been searching for a particular type of black wedges and I haven’t been able to find any I love. The search is still on and will be forever.
22. What social customs do you wish would just disappear?
A. I wish people would stop thinking that they had to talk to you all the time. For example, people always ask, “How are you?” but most of the time they don’t actually care. I HATE that. And if you asked me once already, don’t ask me 20 minutes later. That shows me that you only asked as a way to make conversation and didn’t know what to say.
23. What quirky things do people do where you are from?
A. Well I am from California soooo….
24. Who or where would you haunt if you were a ghost?
A. Umm…well this is a weird question. I would probably bother my family and friends. haha. I don’t think there would be a particular place. Oh! No, wait. I would bother all those people that were jerks to me. Yeah… that could be fun haha.
25. What is your favorite animal or what animal would you be?
A. I like owls, elephants and monkeys. First of all, monkeys in real life are so cute. I am talking about the little ones. Not the big gorillas or anything. I like all three animals because they are adorable on clothing and things. The way people draw them. I have an owl bath rug, owl necklaces, a monkey keychain (that is completely broken and you can’t even tell what it is anymore but i still use it) and an elephant figurine in my cabinet.
As far as me being an animal…I would love to fly, so probably a bird. See the world from up above. Could you imagine?!
26. What gets you out of bed every day?
A. Well, I get out of bed because I have work. And as much as I love lazy days I also like the feeling of being productive. There comes a point where you feel so icky and blah when you don’t do anything.
27. What do you value in a friendship?
A. For friends I like having someone who is loyal. Someone I can always count on. Someone I can talk to, who will listen and give me advice when I need it. Someone who is honest. Of course, I need a friend who is just as crazy as me haha. But the top three would be loyal, honest and dependable.
28. What do you say more often in life: yes or no?
A. There are two ways to look at this question. I say no a lot when it comes to new things or things that are out of my comfort zone. This is because I am an introvert.
However, I do say yes a lot when it comes to choosing. If we are deciding on where to eat, or what to do, I will usually let others decide and just say yeah that’s fine. Even if I had something in mind, I prefer making others happy rather than choosing.
29. What is on your bucket list?
A. I will name a few items on my bucket list. I want to travel to Ireland and Greece. I want to ride in a hot air balloon (I don’t really know why this is…I have just wanted to for so long!). I want to go on a date where we go stargazing. I want to get married and have children.
30. What would you tell your teenage self if you could go back in time?
A. I would tell my teenage self to not worry about what other people say. I was stupid back then and I did things because of what other people thought. For example, one guy came up to me when I was alone and started to make fun of my arm hair because I had more than him. Well that night when I got home from school I shaved my arms. Yep. I shaved them for the next 4 years. I don’t now…but I wish I could tell myself to not care. I would also explain to my teenage self that it is totally okay if I don’t go on dates – that it has nothing to do with me. That was something that hurt me a lot because I didn’t go on a date until college.
31. What is the hardest part about raising children?
A. I guess I will have to wait to truly and honestly answer this one.
32. What mistake do you keep making again and again?
A. I am super hard on myself. So I put myself down a lot. I try to make things as perfect as they can which isn’t a good thing. I don’t have high self esteem so I tend to judge myself or compare myself to others.
33. What have you created that you are most proud of?
A. The curtains I made for my sister’s house. I made them completely from scratch and with a cute fabric! I don’t know how to sew – I just look at YouTube videos and do them – so that was a big accomplishment for me!
34. What’s one responsibility you really wish you didn’t have?
A. Hmmm…I wish I didn’t have to think about what job I want right now. Switching jobs is stressful.
35. What’s the best and worst thing about getting older?
A. The best thing about getting older is that I can do so much more. I get to travel more, I get to meet new people, and experience college, a real job, living alone, etc. The worse thing about getting older is the responsibility that comes with it. Paying bills, having to work all the time, and realizing that you haven’t accomplished things yet.
36. Do you believe in second chances?
A. Yes. But to a degree. It depends on the issue at hand.
37. Do you want to retire to live or live to retire?
A. This was interesting to me. I feel like right now I am the first one – retire to live. But I would love to be live to retire. Take each moment and each day and live it to the fullest to one day just be able to take it easy.
38. What do you wish your brain was better at doing?
A. I wish my brain was better at remembering events. I feel that my brain has a hard time remembers places I visit, and things I do.
39. What or who couldn’t you live without?
A. My family for sure.
40. When do you feel the most confident?
A. In small groups or 1 on 1 with someone. If I am somewhere that I feel comfortable or doing something I like, then I am totally fine. Usually I am most confident when I know at least one person there.
41. If a crystal ball could tell you anything about your future, what would you want to know?
A. I would want to know about my future family.
42. What goal are you working on now?
A. Right now I am working on my relationship with God (reading scriptures more, and having meaningful prayers). I am also trying not to care what others think.
43. What scares you about the future?
A. To be honest I am scared that I will never marry. I also have this fear that I won’t be able to have children. I know it may sound a little crazy…but I can totally see myself staying single. Not because I want to, but sometimes I just feel like it will happen. Each year that passes I feel like yeah I might be that 35 year old who isn’t married yet.
44. When was the last time you cried?
A. The last real time I cried was Sunday because I was having a really rough week. A lot of things going on. And singing hymns just helped me reflect on a lot of things. But the last time I actually cried was on Sunday when I watched the movie Coco. Yes, I cried okay people. The end was emotional haha.
45. Who is someone that you miss having in your life?
A. I miss a group of guys that I used to hang out with at college. We were always pulling pranks on each other. We got into a prank war that was awesome. I also miss hanging out with my friend Chelsea that I met at school. The sad thing is we don’t even live that far away…haha!
And then I also miss having my younger sister in my life as much. She is still in my life, but since she is married with a child now (aka being an adult), we don’t do as much together like we used to. She is one of my best friends.
