Quote Time

“One good yardstick as to whether a person might be the right one for you is this: in her presence, do you think your noblest thoughts, do you aspire to your finest deeds, do you wish you were better than you are?” – Ezra Taft Benson

I came across this quote today and I agreed with it so I decided to share it with you.

Don’t tune out just because I am going to talk about relationships haha. I know some of us think “not again! Please be quiet!”.

But this could be interesting? Right? So…

Dating is meant to be fun, but it also a serious thing. We date to meet new people – to hopefully one day find someone we want to spend the rest of our life with.

We find qualities we like, things that work and things that don’t work for us.

But we need to find someone who raises our standards – NOT lowers them.

Is the person we are interested in someone who honestly makes us want to be better? To improve ourself?

Or are they someone who tries to lower your standards and treats you less than you are because of something they want?

I’ve never been in love, but I have been around my fair share of people that have inspired me to be better.

And when it comes to that special someone we need to be extra careful.

For me right now, a lot of my siblings are great role models for me. I love seeing my siblings with their own families and being around them. I love seeing them progress and moving up in life.

As well as a friend of mine who is always reminding me that as hard as life is, I will be okay. Reminding me to pray. Reminding me to read my scriptures.

Who inspires you to be better? Who helps you to see your full potential?

If you’re like me and you haven’t found that someone… may the 4th be with us to find that special one! 😉

Comment below! I would love to hear about the people who help you!

I don’t know if I’ve had a person like that in my life for a while now. And when I did, it was always a close friend who always brought out the best in me. Nowadays, sometimes it’s other bloggers who inspire me to be better, or seeing certain stories on the internet. Ideally, we should all try to be an inspiration for everyone right?

Yes, thank you! I agree that we should all try to better each other. Unfortunately sometimes we as humans get selfish and think of our desires and try to bring people down to our level to what we want. We should always try to encourage others to keep going and reaching for the stars. I know people who unfortunately when it comes to relationships, they lower their standards for whatever reason. Whether it is because they think they can’t do better, etc. And it’s sad. We should always remind people how amazing they are and what they can accomplish because of their worth. Aren’t we all worth a lot?

I think a lot of people are just trying to get to the place where they think everyone else is at, that along the way, they don’t realize that everyone else isn’t actually on a pedestal at all. And because we put our peers on a pedestal, we don’t think we need to raise them up because in our mind, they’re already higher than us.

        Wow I’m a philosopher haha
